Since its opening in 1968, Foxfire has enjoyed a reputation as one of the premiere golfing destinations in the Sandhills area of North Carolina and throughout the southeast. Located in an area formerly involved with the sport of fox hunting, Foxfire offers thirty-six holes of traditional golf designed by renowned golf architect, Gene Hamm. Offering two traditional layouts, each with its own unique character, Foxfire reflects the identity of the Village of Pinehurst area. The two courses, Foxfire East Course and Foxfire West Course, are set under the Carolina sky, meandering through the tall pines and over the rolling terrain of the Sandhills. Legacy Golf Links host site of the 2000 U.S.G.A. The Magnolia, a "traditional masterpiece", was designed by Gene Hamm, and has played host to the PGA Tour Qualifying School, the LPGA's 's Pinewild Championship in l995, as well US Open Qualifying. The Holly, a Gary Player Signature Course, is fast becoming an area favorite, due to its' panoramic beauty, "risk reward" layout, and some the best greens in the Sandhills. The Holly has played host to many USGA Qualifying events, as well as Carolinas PGA Championships.

Seven Lakes Country Club


Known best at the course where President Dwight Eisenhower recorded his only hole in one, this is one of the desert’s better and older executive courses. Eisenhower’s ace came on the 13th hole, and a plaque on the tee still marks the moment.

This semi-private, privately-owned Country Club boasts two championship golf courses rated among the best in the Carolinas.  The layouts, known as The East and The West Courses, were designed by the world-famous Ellis Maples, who called Whispering Pines his home.  Both courses have Bermuda fairways and Pencross bent grass greens. The East Course was the host site in the year 2000 for the Women's Eastern Golf Association championship. The East Course is both a challenge for the low handicapper and a pleasure to play for the average golfer.
