Pinehurst / Sandhills Area – North Carolina

The Village of Pinehurst in Moore County, NC was established in 1898 and incorporated as a municipality in 1980. It was conceived by James Walker Tufts. He hired the Frederick Law Olmstead firm to design it. Then Donald Ross was brought on board to design the golf course. History was made, and continues to be made at Pinehurst. The name was chosen from contest submissions, the winning name being chosen by Mr. Tufts himself. The Village of Pinehurst and Pinehurst Resort were each designated National Landmarks in 1996. Pinehurst golf packages should always include a little history.

Of course, now the whole area is referred to as “Pinehurst”. There are golf courses and resorts galore. Any and every type of golfer plays at someplace in Pinehurst, also often called the Sandhills. Pinehurst golf packages really are all about golf.
